iRiver...My Best Friend
My favourite gadget has to be my black box friend that goes wherever I go and has been sharing some of the coolest experiences I am having in Japan. The H340 has been a fantastic buy and I am glad of every yen I spent on it. It does everything, and firmware-upgrade by firmware-upgrade, it is doing more. The latest allows me to watch videos. Yes! Now I can view the various teeny avis recording events and memories of travels, as well as larger ones of films and TV shows. Yesterday I spent time reading up on advice left by other iRiver enthusiasts/gadget geeks on the www.misticriver.net forum. Now I have the tools to convert the avi files to enjoy them on small screen.
The ones I have converted so far [and it only takes a minute or so] are of a local music concert in Otsuki. It features Aodori dancing with music of the shakuhachi and shamisen...very beautiful. Others I recorded on my Casio digi-cam are of my music idol Erykah Badu, on Saturday when I saw her at Studio Coast, Shin Kiba..Truly cool.
The next release is April 20th. This new upgrade will able the following:
1. A clock (alarm, timer function to be added later)
2. WAV file support
3. Lower folder recognition when using text-viewer mode
4. Playback speed control
So as well as the radio, voice recording, text viewing, picture viewing and mp3 features, I can now watch videos too..woohoo!
